Twitter will also begin streaming videos soon

Twitter since its launch in 2006 has been expanding and has gone through a remarkable transformation over time. It has transformed not only in structure but also in its relevance and its use. It quickly became the water-cooler of the internet after celebrities and other popular figures from all parts of the world including Lady Gaga, Dalai Lama, Pope Benedict and many others started using Twitter.

Recently, twitter has announced that it plans to stream live videos across the platform that will make it easier for users to tune into what’s most happening. The company has not announced a fixed date for its ‘ambient video’ programming yet. But according to the Twitter’s COO and CFO Anthony Noto, the company plans to introduce 24/7 (video) content on the platform. The aim is to create a dependable place so that when user’s wanted to see what’s happening around, they log on to Twitter.

This is an interesting move by the company as it will enable Twitter to avail many chances for selling 15 and 30-second inevitable video ads. For the company, it will be really helpful to monetize the platform more effectively. In this way, Twitter will be making good use of the tech infrastructure that has proven to support a large audience for streaming content.

Last September, Twitter began streaming NFL games and attracted 3.5 million unique users. Therefore, the company is also considering hosting more of the sports content including sports highlights shows as well as UFC coverage.

For now, Twitter only plans its 24/7 plan to be focused on US-based content but it will be interesting to see as the platform expands and accommodate audience from other countries.
