This is the reason that Facebook has started running a trial featuring its subsidiary WhatsApp in the platform’s main app. the Android users have reported seeing a dedicated WhatsApp button in their main Facebook app which when clicked, acts as a shortcut for the messaging service.

The button present on the main app opens up the WhatsApp service without leaving the Facebook app. in the menu area, users can easily find this dedicated button whereas for users in the control group can see the button at the top right under their name. This feature is currently being tested on the Android version of the app and is expected to be made available for the iOS users in the future. This is the first time Facebook has been seen integrating its subsidiaries into its main platform. This kind of experiment was also performed for Instagram recently.

In the year 2015, Facebook experimented by adding a WhatsApp send button on its main app for allowing users to share their images and videos to other contacts. That feature, however, never made it to the Facebook’s official app. Facebook has not yet confirmed whether this feature will be made available to the entire audience or not.
