On December 31st, 2018, Elon Musk said he is testing a Neuralink product that can make anyone superhuman by connecting their brains to a computer. A year later in July 2019, Musk said that he’s tested Neuralink brain microchip on monkeys and it was able to control a computer with its mind. 7 months ago, Musk issued a statement telling that “Neuralink” AI brain chips could be tested on humans this year.

Now, Elon Musk has unveiled a pig with a small computer chip, as tiny as a coin installed in her brain to show his plans of introducing a brain-to-machine interface.

“It’s kind of like a Fitbit in your skull with tiny wires,” the billionaire entrepreneur said on a webcast.

This interface could potentially allow humans to control phones and computers with their minds. The initial idea of introducing Neuralink was to help patients cure suffering from dementia, Parkinson diseases.

The processor in Gertrude’s brain sends wireless signals that indicate neural activity in her snout when hungry and looking for food.

Musk also said that the original Neuralink device is now made simplified and smaller in size. He said it fits nicely in the skull, can be placed under human hair and they would not even notice it.
