YouTube Kids gives kids their own profiles now

YouTube kids is a safe way to allows kids to browse YouTube as compared to giving them full access to the main app. This filtered version of YouTube was initially introduced in 2015 but it gets its first major Update 2 years later in 2017. The updated YouTube app for kids is adding several new features, including profile customization based on the child’s date of birth and additional security controls for parents.

The kids app is designed keeping in mind, simple user interface and preferred selection of the kid by pulling content from publishers like DreamWorks TV, Jim Henson TV, Mother Goose Club, Talking Tom and Friends, National Geographic Kids, Reading Rainbow and Thomas the Tank Engine, among others.

In the latest update, parents can now sign in with a Google account in order to create a customized profile for their child. The sign up process includes more detailed information to help parents make the right choice that is related to the preferred content for their child.

“Remember our systems work hard to filter out more mature content from the app. But no system is perfect,” writes Balaji Srinivasan, the YouTube Kids engineering director.
