Video reviews is coming on Google Maps

With Google Maps, it was only possible to upload just the still images. But now, Google has recently introduced video in parts of its mapping service and is currently testing it on its users belonging to the company’s local guides program. According to this feature, users will be able to shoot a ten-second videos right from their Google Maps app. they can also upload 30-second clips from their camera roll.

The company started testing the feature about two weeks ago for its local guides and is now notifying them through emails. But Google plans to roll out this feature publicly in the near future. The company allows users to use their captured videos for personal reviews and the local businesses will be given the opportunity to use it to highlight their products.

In order to record videos to Google Maps, users will have to search for and chose a place in the Google Maps. They will then scroll down and tap “add a photo”, tap the camera icon and then press the shutter to record. Currently, this feature is only available to local guides on Android, but the company seems to be already testing it with the local businesses.

Although, this is not a very big update by Google however even this slightest change bring quite a variation in Google Maps. This will be beneficial for local business owners to capture small clips of their location but there is a chance that many of them will fall for more expensive and professional videos.
