Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy Grabs Another Emmy Award

Making the waves again is Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, an Oscar winning Pakistani film maker. She has won her second Emmy award for the best documentary ‘A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness’.

Documentary is about a 19 years old girl surviving an honour killing attempted by none other than her father and uncle.

Emmy’s News and Documentary Awards were presented at a ceremony at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City.

Sharmeen received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Smith college in USA and started her career in filmmaking when she returned back to Pakistan. She has won two Oscars for her documentaries “Saving Face” and “A Girl in a River” and now has two Emmy awards too which speaks volume about her work and topic she chooses for her films.
