Freelancing in Pakistan is growing fast. It is helping the country’s economy and bringing in foreign money.
Over 2.3 million freelancers are working in Pakistan. They earn more than $500 million every year by doing online work for clients in other countries. They work in areas like IT, design, writing, and marketing.
Experts say this is just the beginning. With help from the government—like better policies, internet access, and training—this number could double in the next few years.
Recently, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Digital Hub, met with PAFLA Chairman Ibrahim Amin. They talked about how to support freelancers.
They agreed that better planning, teamwork, and strong digital tools are needed. These steps can help freelancers grow their work, find more clients, and bring more money into Pakistan’s economy.
To put these ideas into action, the government has announced plans to launch 250 e-Rozgar Centers across the country. These digital hubs will provide young freelancers with essential resources, including
- High-speed internet
- Modern workspaces
- Training programs
- Career mentorship.
The initiative is designed to make freelancing more accessible, especially for those in underserved areas.
This plan is part of a bigger program called the Digital Youth Hub, made with help from UNICEF. The goal is to help young people in Pakistan find work online through

- Small businesses.
The program teaches digital skills, supports self-employment, and helps youth start tech-based businesses.

One of the best parts of this program is that it includes everyone. It sets up digital centers in both cities and villages. This gives more people—especially women and youth from poor areas—a chance to earn money from home.
