Charge your devices without wires

The smartphones, laptops, tablets and other portable devices of today are more sophisticated and powerful than ever. The only thing that has aged throughout the process is the charging battery. This is something that has forced users to regularly plug devices into power outlets and has limited both convenience and movability.

This is the problem that requires a solution more than anything. The scientists of Disney’s Research Lab focused their attention towards this main issue and have successfully found a solution by developing a new method to wirelessly charge electronic devices. The founders of the project have eliminated the need for electrical cords or charging cradles for the process instead they have developed a room where it is possible to power devices.

All compatible devices are charged by an electromagnetic signal radiating from a copper pole at the center of the room. The energy is safely kept inside up to 1900 watts with aluminum walls. It was then measured by researchers that how much energy could be pumped into the room before it becomes dangerous. It turned out that humans couldn’t get safely within two feet of the pole.

To capture the charge, users will need a coil receiver attached to the bottom of the phone. Around the room, researchers purposely scattered ten devices where each can receive power irrespective of any position they are placed. It is going to work with other devices as well and is also expected to enable new applications of robots in future.
