Alibaba records $56bn in first post-virus Singles’ Day sales, smashing 2019 high

The last year 2019, Alibaba smashed its all-time best Singles’ Day record with $38b sales. With pandemic forcing everybody to shop online, it is anticipated that Alibaba will break its previous year’s sales record today.

For the last two years, Alibaba has been improving on the previous year’s Single-day record. In 2017, Alibaba smashed a Singles’ Day record as sales crossed $25 billion. Last year, 2018, Singles’ Day sales were a record, an amazing $31 Billion in Sales. 11th November is Singles day in China. Singles’ day event is similar to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Last year, Alibaba bagged its first $1 billion in sales in just 68 seconds and the first $10 billion in half an hour.

Today, on 11th November, Alibaba is well on its way to create a new history. Alibaba authorities reported early Wednesday morning that the annual sales have so far pulled in 372.3 billion yuan ($56.3 billion).

Let’s see if Alibaba is able to break the $100 billion barrierer by the end of the day.
