6 Steps to breaking out of your comfort zone

It is common for people to become lazy when they are comfortable. But this slowly and discretely destroys your life. It is because your comfort zone is less about comfort and more about fear. It sometimes makes you so afraid to get out of it that you prefer staying there than going out of your comfort zone. But by limiting yourself to what you are already aware of, you likely miss out on the professional opportunities, life experiences, and personal growth.

The hardest part in getting out of your safe cocoon is the first step but following are the few steps that you can take to push yourself to the limits:

Define your comfort zone:

In order to get out of your comfort zone, you need to recognize what stands inside it. There must be some things that you wish you could do but are too afraid to do. For this purpose, write down what actually causes you discomfort. Ask yourself why it is uncomfortable for you and understand in order to overcome it.

Find the right motivation:

There are so many things that seem impossible but with the right motivation, you can actually be able to do them. You must find true motivation if you want to stop trying to live in fear and want to change your life.

Set clear goals:

It is important to know where you are headed at no matter what you do in your life. You need to keep goals in order to know where your destination is. Just knowing the road is not enough, you also need to plan in advance so that you can take the steps to need to reach the bigger objectives.

Perceive the discomfort as comfort:

The smartest way to getting out of your comfort zone is to perceive it as an expansion of your comfort zone. Turn it like a game and do something new every day. The process is hard and boring but you need to find ways to make it exciting for you.

Learn from past mistakes:

Failures are not the end to your goals; rather they are the best things to learn from. Failures and mistakes are the stepping stone for the success that you want to achieve. So, learn from them and try not to make the same mistakes again.

Take small steps:

The golden rule for achieving success is by taking baby steps towards the goals that you want to achieve. Jumping outside your comfort zone instantly is not possible; it will make you end up in anxiety. Instead, turn back to your initial state and just make one improvement at a time to get started on the journey.
