Couple of months back, it was heard that Twitter is increasing tweet limit to 280. After testing it for 2 months, twitter rolls out the new feature for everyone today.
According to Twitter’s Product Manager Aliza Rosen:
We saw when people needed to use more than 140 characters, they Tweeted more easily and more often. But importantly, people Tweeted below 140 most of the time and the brevity of Twitter remained.
The new character limit will be available to all languages. Twitter’s analyst say that only 5% of tweets were longer than 140 characters. This feature is good for those who tweet more than once to convey a message because of the character limit.
