State Bank to issue a commemorative Rs. 50 coin in memory of Abdul Sattar Edhi

A world renowned selfless servant to the poor and needy Abdul Sattar Edhi is an inspiration to people all over the world. He was the person who actually demonstrated how much good can come from a person if he/she wishes to help others with generosity and compassion. Throughout his life, he committed himself to help orphans, providing support to the less fortunate, and understanding the human dignity. He was the founder of Pakistan’s largest welfare organization The Edhi Welfare Trust.

He passed away in July 2016 and was honored with country’s state funeral which was attended by the top politicians as well as the army chief of Pakistan. In an honor to Abdul Sattar Edhi’s services, State Bank of Pakistan had announced last year to issue a commemorative coin of Rs. 50. This will be considered a reminder of his services to humanity and concerns for others. Recently it has been stated that this small token of appreciation will be issued on March 31.
