Several Google Drive users have experienced random data loss in the past week, even though the global deletion date was still days away. Google has not given a clarification on this issue, and an extremely durable fix isn’t accessible. Nonetheless, the company has recognized the issue openly.

Google underlines that a set number of users have been influenced by this puzzling issue. Additionally, the company has provided a temporary solution to prevent unexpected data deletion. Here are the recommended steps:
Avoid clicking “Disconnect account” in Drive for desktop. Refrain from deleting or relocating the app data folder:
- Windows: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Google\DriveFS
- macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Google/DriveFS
Alternatively, if you have accessible space on your hard drive, consider making a duplicate of the app data folder.
As recently mentioned, Google is effectively examining the issue, and at this point, there is no long-lasting arrangement. It remains questionable whether users who have encountered data loss will actually want to recover their drive data once the underlying driver is recognized. Despite this, Google assures that an update on the matter will be provided soon.
