In Indiana, a bankruptcy lawyer named Mark Zuckerberg has taken legal action against Meta, claiming the company repeatedly disabled his Facebook page by mistaking him for its own CEO.
The attorney, who has been practicing law for decades, says his professional Facebook page has been shut down five times in the last eight years. Each time, Meta’s moderation systems flagged him as impersonating Mark Zuckerberg, the billionaire founder of the platform.
For the lawyer, this has been more than a nuisance it’s been costly. He says he’s spent over $11,000 on Facebook ads to promote his practice, but even when his account was wrongly disabled, the ad charges still went through.
The issue has shaped much of his personal and professional life. He even created a website, iammarkzuckerberg.com, to document the challenges of sharing a name with one of the most recognized figures in tech. From struggling to make restaurant reservations without being laughed at, to fielding calls meant for the Meta CEO including angry threats and money requests the lawyer says his name has been both a burden and a strange claim to fame.

At speaking events, the confusion follows him too. During a conference in Las Vegas, a limo driver holding a “Mark Zuckerberg” sign caused a stir as crowds thought the Meta CEO was about to appear only to be met by the Indiana lawyer.

Despite the headaches, he insists he has no hard feelings toward his more famous namesake. On his website, he even jokes that he’ll always dominate search results for “Mark Zuckerberg bankruptcy” and would gladly represent the tech billionaire if he ever needed help in Indiana.
Meta has acknowledged the lawsuit, telling local media: “We know there’s more than one Mark Zuckerberg in the world, and we are getting to the bottom of this.”
