How to live life when it doesn’t go as expected

Many of us expect our lives to materialize the way we envision them in our hopes and dreams. But this disappointment of our new reality is difficult to reconcile when life doesn’t go as we have planned it.

It is hard for us to believe or accept any change in our plans. When life doesn’t go as planned, there is no explanation for it. Things can get out of control but if you want to live, you need to remember the following things:

1. Do not allow yourself to wallow in self-pity:

There are lots of people who are frightened about their life and feel anxious. They sometimes shift the responsibility of failure on something in order to avoid blaming themselves. These send them in a state of self-pity and think they have no purpose to live their life. This is the worst thing to do when things do not turn the way you want. In the grand scheme of universe, you have to create your own mission. Accept what you have and become grateful for it. Learn to appreciate what is available and your life will become much better.

2. Misfortunes are a part of life:

Nobody has a perfect life. Even people, who seem to live a perfect life, have something really troubling going on which is hidden from your eyes. Misfortunes happen even to the good people and there is no way to change it. The key is to do your best and make the best decisions you can.

3. Redefine your journey once you have failed:

When things do not go as planned, there is no use crying over them. If a route you have tried has not worked, try the other one and redefine your strategies and goals. Instead of worrying why your life didn’t go as planned, just continue living it and try all the possible ways you can. Do not whine on your dreams and pitying yourself. Look for all the resources that already exist and make use of them to live a better life.

4. Deal with problems:

You may have dreams for which you are not fully skilled. This may make you knocking on closed doors again and again. But instead of torturing yourself that why things didn’t turn out as you wanted, get to the root of the problems, and deal with them. Once you deal with the problems, you will have a better understanding of where you are and which direction you need to go.

5. Change your perspective:

When you have a purpose, your life becomes meaningful. If few things do not go as you had planned then become aware of the other available opportunities. Try yourself to do things which you have never thought you would do.

Remember, life is organic not linear. You can always start again, all you need is a determination to let go of your past and think about the future.

You can choose, you are alive – you can choose!
