Elon Musk to Launch ‘X TV’ to Compete with YouTube

To take on YouTube, Elon Musk’s company X plans to release a TV app for Samsung and Amazon smart TVs the next week. Recently, Elon Musk tweeted about his next app, X, hinting at its impending release with the hashtag “Coming Soon.”

According to reports, Musk is determined to take on YouTube, and his plans for streaming video appear to be centred around internet influencers, media celebrities, and online video game broadcasting. Content creators have been asked by X to move all of their video content to X, claiming that doing so will increase their ad revenue sources.

In 2023, YouTube was the most-watched streaming site, which is something to note. Musk, meanwhile, doesn’t seem to be deterred; in October of last year, he made the X app’s beta version available to a limited number of people. His larger goal is to turn the software into a feature-rich “super app,” this trial version had both video and audio calling capabilities.

The company is attempting to enter the competitive streaming video market with the release of its TV app. Although competing with Google-owned YouTube is difficult, X could catch up if it can entice producers with large sums of money. The super app will also have services like online payment and texting, giving customers a one-stop shop for their digital needs.
