A Look Back And the Road Ahead

In August 2018, Ignite in collaboration with Virtual University of Pakistan, launched DigiSkills for the Ministry of IT and Telecom. The first two phases trained over 4.5 million people, many of whom have gone on to become successful freelancers and tech professionals.

However, the program hit a bump recently. Phase 3.0 was delayed for over a year, which led to frustration and criticism especially during a National Assembly Standing Committee meeting in May 2025.

Why the Delay?

The delay wasn’t without reason. The main issues were:

  • A new CEO for Ignite wasn’t appointed

  • The Board of Directors (led by the IT Secretary) didn’t meet for months

  • Several key projects remained stuck in limbo

It was only last month that the board finally reconvened, giving the green light to long awaited projects including this one.

Ignite officials say the delay gave them much needed time to modernize the curriculum, catch up with emerging tech trends, and create something truly impactful.

Conclusion

Whether you’re a student, a job seeker, a stay-at-home parent, or someone ready to switch careers this is your shot.

DigiSkills 3.0 isn’t just a free training platform it’s a stepping stone toward real earning potential, remote work, and freedom to grow your career on your terms. 300,000 seats won’t last long. Enroll now.
