You Can Now Pin Up to Three Messages in WhatsApp Chats

WhatsApp has finally allowed users to pin multiple messages in a chat at once, in an upgrade that will leave you wondering why it took months to get at this feature.

The messaging app launched the feature of pinning messages in direct messages and group chats in December of last year, but for some strange reason, it could only be used for one message per session.

We’re left wondering why such an unnecessary restriction persists, even though the maximum number of messages that may be pinned in a chat is now three. This is still a lot less than competing messaging apps like Telegram and Discord.

The CEOs of Meta and WhatsApp, Mark Zuckerburg and Will Cathcart, respectively, introduced the most recent version.

Even with the three message restriction, we may still pin anything we want, including text, photos, and polls. Like other chat programs, all you have to do is press and hold a message to bring up a menu with a pinning option. You can access the original message directly by tapping on a pinned message.

A message can be pinned for up to seven days, but it can also be pinned for twenty-four or thirty days. Another arbitrary restriction is that there is no way to pin something indefinitely; instead, the message will automatically be unpinned after the predetermined amount of time.

Every member of the group will receive a notification when a message is pinned, and group admin will have the ability to restrict who is able to pin messages. Users who removed the message prior to it being pinned, those without access to the chat history, and users who joined the group after it was pinned will not be able to read it.
