Windows 11 Gets Smarter with New Copilot and AI Upgrades
Microsoft is taking another big step in making every Windows 11 computer an AI-powered PC. The latest update brings new Copilot features that make using your computer easier, faster, and more personal.
At the heart of this update is Copilot, Microsoft’s built-in AI assistant that helps you work, learn, and create. Now, Copilot can listen, see what’s on your screen, and even take action for you, all with your permission and built-in Windows 11 security.
Microsoft says this new way of interacting with your computer, through voice, vision, and automation, could be as big as when the mouse and keyboard first came out.

Talk Naturally with “Hey Copilot”
Typing long prompts can be tiring. Now, you can just talk to your PC. With the new “Hey Copilot” voice command, you can ask your computer to do things using natural speech.
Want to open an app, summarize a document, or adjust your settings? Just say, “Hey Copilot…” and start talking.
The feature is optional, and once turned on, a small microphone will appear when Copilot is listening. When you’re done, you can say “Goodbye” or simply stop talking. Copilot will automatically end the session.
Microsoft says users engage with Copilot twice as much when using voice instead of typing. That means people are finding it easier and more fun to use.

Copilot Vision Now Available Worldwide
The Copilot Vision feature is expanding to all countries where Copilot is available. It allows the AI to “see” your desktop or apps (with your permission) and give you real-time help.
Here’s what it can do:
-
See and guide: Copilot can look at your open apps or files and give suggestions, like improving a photo, reviewing a resume, or helping with a game.
-
Show me how: You can ask, “Show me how to…” and it will point out steps right on your screen.
-
Work in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint: Copilot can review an entire presentation or spreadsheet without you flipping through pages.
-
Text or voice support: Soon, you can chat with Vision by text, not just by voice. This helps if you’re in a quiet space or forgot your headphones.
Smarter and Faster with New Taskbar Copilot
Microsoft is also redesigning the taskbar to make Copilot easier to reach. With a single click, you can open Copilot for quick help, whether you’re using voice, text, or vision.
The taskbar will also feature a refreshed search experience, giving instant results for apps, files, and settings as you type.
This doesn’t give Copilot full access to your files; it just helps you find what’s already stored on your computer faster.
Copilot Actions: Let AI Do the Work
A new feature called Copilot Actions will soon let the AI perform real tasks on your PC, like sorting photos, summarizing PDFs, or even creating a document.
Just describe what you need in plain language, and Copilot will handle it. You can pause, take control, or stop the process at any time.
This feature is being tested in Copilot Labs before being released widely.
More Connections and Smarter Integrations
Microsoft is also adding Copilot Connectors that let you link services like OneDrive, Outlook, Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar.
You can ask questions like
-
“Find my dentist appointment.”
-
“What’s Mary’s email address?”
-
“Show my school paper from Econ 201.”
Copilot will search through your connected apps and show results instantly.
You can also ask it to export results directly into Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, saving time when working on projects.
And if you need to adjust your computer settings, you can just ask, “Make my screen brighter” or “Help me focus.” Copilot will open the right settings page automatically.
AI for Creativity and Productivity
New tools like Manus AI can help users build websites or edit files directly from File Explorer. With just a right-click, you can ask Manus to “create a website” from your documents, and it will do the work in minutes, no coding or uploads needed.
Manus is still in private preview, but it shows how powerful AI can be when integrated directly into Windows.
You’ll also be able to edit videos in Filmora, schedule Zoom meetings with one click, and get AI gaming tips through the new Gaming Copilot on Xbox and ROG Ally handheld devices.
Security First on Windows 11
Microsoft says security remains a top priority. All Copilot features are built with strong privacy and data protection.
You’ll always be in control; Copilot Actions are off by default, and you’ll be able to see what the AI is doing at all times. If an important task requires your approval, Copilot will ask first.
The company says it’s rolling out these updates slowly to gather feedback and ensure safety before full release.
Time to Upgrade to a Windows 11 PC

As Microsoft put it:
“Your PC isn’t just a tool anymore. It’s a true partner in getting things done.”
