We have been waiting for this feature for some time, finally — WhatsApp disappearing messages feature is launched.
Earlier this year WhatsApp announced in a blog post that the Facebook-owned company is introducing disappearing Messages. It’s a feature that automatically deletes messages after a certain period of time. The much-awaited feature is introduced now. The details of this new feature are available on the FAQ page on WhatsApp’s official website.
How does it work?
This option enables WhatsApp users to delete messages for individual and group chat after seven days. The message will get permanently deleted automatically after seven days.
Here’s how you can enable this feature on WhatsApp.
You need to ensure that your WhatsApp is updated and the latest version is installed on your phone. For Android, the latest version is 18.104.22.168 and for iPhone, the latest version right now is 22.214.171.124.
Open a WhatsApp chat, tap Contact Info and then scroll down to find the ‘Disappearing Messages’ feature.
This feature is disabled by default. Tapping on it will enable this feature.
Note: You’ll have to enable this feature individually for each chat. Remember, the message will auto-delete after 7 days.
