Samsung Integrates Google Gemini AI Into Its Smart Refrigerators

Samsung is taking its high-end kitchen appliances to the next level. The company announced that it is bringing Google’s Gemini AI chatbot to its Bespoke AI refrigerators. This integration is set to enhance food recognition, streamline kitchen management, and give users smarter options for meal planning.

Expanded AI Capabilities for Bespoke AI Series

The upcoming Bespoke AI series includes

• Bespoke AI Hybrid Refrigerators with 9-inch AI Home screens

• Bespoke AI Family Hub Refrigerators

• Infinite AI Wine Refrigerators

All these models will now feature Bixby and Google Gemini AI, along with a built-in camera. Previous models could identify up to 37 types of fresh foods and 50 types of packaged items. With Gemini, the refrigerators can recognize a broader range of fresh and packaged foods, enhancing grocery tracking and meal planning.

AI-Powered Food Management

Samsung is introducing AI Food Manager, a feature designed to make refrigerators smarter and more interactive:

• Automatically identifies and registers food items stored inside

• Reads handwritten labels on containers and adds the info to your grocery list

• Suggests recipes based on what’s available in the fridge

• Alerts users to expired or soon-to-expire items

This means users can reduce food waste while making grocery shopping and meal prep much easier.

Gemini AI Comes to Wine Storage

Samsung isn’t stopping with food. Wine Cellar and Wine Cooler refrigerators will also feature Google Gemini AI. These devices will include AI Wine Manager, which helps users manage their wine collections efficiently:

• Captures detailed wine information (name, classification, variety, vintage)

• Organizes wines in a virtual list and tracks their storage location

• Supports long-term and strategic wine storage planning
