About the Oxford Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarship

As a component of the Oxford Graduate Scholarships, this funding initiative was established through an innovative matching fund approach to facilitate the establishment of fully funded scholarships for outstanding graduate students globally. The University provides 40% of the financial support, complemented by a generous 60% contribution from donors associated with the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust, including the Fondation Hoffmann. Based in Switzerland, Fondation Hoffmann is a grant-making institution dedicated to supporting developing and expanding tangible projects that address contemporary global societal challenges.

Who is eligible to submit applications for the Oxford Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships?

• Intention to return to the country of ordinary residence after completing the course
• Ineligibility for current Oxford students, except those already holding Weidenfeld scholarships
• Demonstration of a clear link between the subject of study and long-term career objectives
• Explanation of how professional work will contribute to improving public life in the country of origin or at a wider regional/international level
• Assessment of the above qualities during the selection process, utilizing the graduate application form, Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships Questionnaire, and, if applicable, the interview
• Ineligibility for candidates with deferred offers to start in 2023-24 academic year
• Communication in the English language is required.

Duration of Oxford Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships:

• Awards pay the student’s entire cost obligation for the specified course.
• For courses lasting more than one year, scholarship continuation each year is contingent upon an annual renewal process, dependent on satisfactory academic progress.

Benefits:

• The scholarship covers 100% of course fees.
• A grant for living costs is included.
• Awards are applicable for the entire duration of the student’s fee liability for the agreed course.

Application Procedure:

• To be eligible for this scholarship, choose the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme in the University of Oxford Scholarships section of the University’s graduate application form.
• Send in your graduate study application by the December or January date that applies to your Programme. Refer to the specific course page for the applicable deadline.
• Complete a Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships Statement and upload it along with your graduate application form by the specified deadline.

• They will use the information provided in the ‘Nationality and ordinary residence’ section of the graduate application form to determine your country of ordinary residence. For a definition of ordinary residency and guidance on completing this section, refer to the ‘Nationality’ and ‘Ordinary residence’ sections in the graduate application form, along with the instructions in the Application Guide.
• To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must secure a place on their course following the evaluation of applications received by the relevant December or January deadline. Course applications held over for re-evaluation against those received by the March deadline or applications placed on a waiting list are not eligible for scholarship consideration.
• If shortlisted for the scholarship, applicants will be required to participate in an interview, likely conducted online in April 2024.
