Soon, You Might Be Able to Share Spotify Music on WhatsApp Status

WhatsApp Testing Feature to Share Spotify Tracks in Status

In a future update, WhatsApp plans to roll out an interesting new feature that will let users share their favourite Spotify songs straight in status messages.

According to WABetaInfo, which cited the most recent WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.8.3 update, users will have the ability to publish music from the streaming app as a WhatsApp status update in addition to the standard option of sending it as a message to a contact or a group.

With this next upgrade, Meta’s well-known instant messaging program will be able to create a preview of the shared song that includes important information like the album cover, artist name, and song title.

By offering a visually appealing depiction of shared music, akin to the music-sharing features already present on Instagram Stories, the addition seeks to increase user engagement.

Music sharing has become more engaging as viewers may presently get to the shared song specifically without having to conduct a time-consuming search.

Like Instagram, WhatsApp will incorporate a “Play on Spotify” button in the status upgrade so that users can right away get to the song in the Spotify app by pressing it.

Interestingly, WhatsApp won’t have access to the particular music that users share through Spotify. Only the designated recipients will be able to access the shared content since WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption protects status updates.

A future version will include this functionality, which is currently being developed.
