Pakistan assembled 12.05 million mobile phones between January and May 2025, according to new data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). During the same period, commercial imports dropped sharply to just 0.76 million units.
Of the locally assembled devices, 6.53 million were 2G phones, while 5.52 million were smartphones. In comparison, 31.38 million phones were assembled in all of 2024, with imports limited to 1.71 million units that year.
Smartphone usage is on the rise. PTA reported that 67% of mobile devices on Pakistani networks are now smartphones, while 33% still use 2G.
Telecom Complaints: Over 10,000 Cases in May Alone
In May 2025, the PTA received 10,241 consumer complaints related to telecom and internet services. Of these, 97.92% were resolved.
Among mobile operators:

Jazz received the most complaints (3,543) with a 99.3% resolution rate

Zong followed with 2,724 complaints

Telenor had 1,722 cases

Ufone received 1,129 complaints, resolving 97.4%
The PTA also received:

126 complaints about basic landline services (89.7% resolved)

695 complaints about internet service providers, with a 90.5% resolution rate
