Chinese solar giant Longi has introduced a revolutionary new solar panel, setting a new global benchmark for efficiency and power output. The panel was showcased at the SNEC 2025 trade show in Shanghai. These panels drew attention from industry leaders and renewable energy advocates.
The newly launched module delivers an impressive 700 watts of power and boasts 25.9% efficiency at the module level. It is one of the highest figures ever recorded for commercial panels.
At the heart of this innovation is Longi’s proprietary Hybrid Interdigitated Back Contact (HIBC) solar cell technology. In April 2025, this advanced cell architecture achieved a world-record 27.81% power conversion efficiency, pushing the limits of silicon-based solar performance.
The panel is built using a full-size silicon wafer, providing a power density of 259 watts per square meter (W/m²). It also features a low-temperature coefficient of -0.24% per degree Celsius. It means it retains high efficiency even under intense heat—a major advantage for regions with hot climates.
To improve durability and longevity, longi’s HIBC cells use

Longi described the panel as a “new benchmark in photovoltaic performance,” noting that it merges cutting-edge materials science with breakthroughs in solar cell architecture.
