YouTube Launches “YouTube Heroes” Program to flag inappropriate content

It is estimated that 400 hours of videos are uploaded on YouTube every minute and to moderate such a big community is not easy. To give the power to the trust-worthy users, YouTube has a launched a highly criticized program called “YouTube Heroes“.

Company will reward people as “Heroes” who will report the content which violates the company’s guidelines. It seems like the idea is, more you report, more you get rewarded with features such as Heroes dashboard, Video chats.

There is lot of criticism online specially on Twitter about the program, artists and publishers believe that people will signup just to become heroes to report content and that is unfair.
