WhatsApp has released a new beta update for Android (version 2.25.19.8) through the Google Play Beta Program. This update shows that WhatsApp is working on a new feature called Writing Help, which uses AI Private Processing to improve how we write messages.
Earlier, in version 2.25.18.18, WhatsApp introduced an AI feature that can summarize messages privately in chats and groups. It helps users catch up on unread messages by showing short summaries. These summaries are created using Meta AI, but the system ensures full privacy. No message ever leaves your phone. WhatsApp, Meta, or anyone else can’t see your content.
Now, WhatsApp is taking things a step further. With the latest update, they are working on a feature to improve outgoing messages using AI, also processed privately on your device.
What is AI Private Processing?
It’s a system by Meta that uses encrypted connections and anonymous routing to protect your identity. When you use Writing Help, your message is processed securely. No data is stored, and nothing is linked to you.
What does Writing Help do?
Once you turn on Private Processing in WhatsApp settings, you’ll see a new AI button on your emoji keyboard. When you tap this button, you’ll get options to enhance your message.
You can:
-
Fix grammar or rewrite your text to make it clearer.
-
Choose a tone:
-
Professional—great for work or formal chats.
-
Funny—adds humor and lightness.
-
Supportive—makes your message more caring and encouraging.
-

WhatsApp will give you at least three message suggestions per tone (if available). You can choose one and replace your original message with it before sending, and no one will know AI was used!
Want to give feedback?
You can share your thoughts about the Writing Help feature. Don’t worry—WhatsApp only gets your feedback, not your messages. Your privacy stays protected.
Optional Feature
This tool is completely optional. If you don’t want to use AI Writing Help, you can ignore the button or turn it off in settings. WhatsApp won’t change your messages unless you ask it to. It will only look at the one message you choose, not the whole chat.
This feature is still under development and will be released in a future update. But it’s a big step toward smarter, more personalized, and private communication on WhatsApp.
Stay tuned—more updates coming soon!
