Twitter, Facebook, and WhatsApp being blocked in Turkey

Social media has been made inaccessible in Turkey nationwide. According to the country’s internet monitoring group, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and WhatsApp are facing restricted access in all parts region since 12 AM there (Friday). The internet service providers are being regulated and made inaccessible for the public.

Last month, the authorities made Goggle Drive,Dropbox, and OneDrive and GitHub obscure to stop the leak of emails related to Berat Albayrak, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources. Now the Turkish Government has blocked internet service because of the current situation in the country.

This cessation of the social networking sites is due to the Parliament members’ detention. These 11 members belong to the pro-Kurdish Democratic Party (HDP) in the Kurdish Southeast.

After the failed coup in July of removing the right-wing President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from power, the opposition politicians have informed that the nation’s authoritarian leader is aiming for a slow-motion counter-coup which will restrict the government as well as circumventing democracy.
