TikTok Launches New Tool to Enhance Your Account Security

TikTok has unveiled a new security tool called “Security Checkup,” in spite of persistent stresses almost its survival, particularly in the United States. The reason for this centralized control board is to progress the security of user accounts.

The feature, which can be accessed through the “Settings and Privacy” menu under “Security & permissions,” centralizes vital security controls. Without having to go through a few settings, users can set up passkeys, activate biometric login procedures like facial acknowledgment, empower two-factor authentication (2FA), and interface their phone number and e-mail for reinforcement login options—all from a single dashboard.

The dashboard also gives users a clear view of all devices logged into their account, making it easy to revoke access to any unrecognized or unwanted device. TikTok will also flag any unusual activity, allowing users to review potential security threats.

This update aligns with security measures introduced by TikTok’s competitors. Instagram, for example, launched its own “Security Checkup” nearly four years ago. While TikTok may be late to the game, this is still a valuable addition.

Additionally, TikTok has introduced a new feature to help users avoid scams. The platform now displays informative banners when users search for terms linked to potential fraud, providing an extra layer of protection.
