The minister confirmed that Starlink would have to officially renew its license when the regulatory structure is finished.

Shaza also revealed that Shanghai Spacecom, a Chinese company, has submitted an application to provide comparable satellite internet access in Pakistan.

Major General (retd) Hafeez-ur-Rehman, the chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), told the committee that although Starlink has been given a temporary license, a complete operating license is still waiting and won’t be awarded until regulatory frameworks are established.

He stated that Starlink’s license is presently in the issuing stage and that the business would have to reapply when the final rules are established.

At the end of the conference, it was anticipated that Starlink would finish deploying its infrastructure in the upcoming months and have the service up and running by the end of the year.
