Saudi Arabia Underscores AI Vision at Arab Forum in Egypt
El-Alamein City, Egypt Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its commitment to becoming a leader in artificial intelligence during the opening of the 1st Arab Forum on Artificial Intelligence. Representing the Kingdom, Eng. Faisal Alsallum pointed to the role of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), which was created in 2019 to steer the country’s efforts in data and AI.
Alsallum explained that SDAIA works through its three main entities the National Information Center, the National Data Management Office, and the National Center for AI to build advanced data tools and foster innovation. He stressed that these initiatives are not only about technology but also about driving economic growth in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

Among the key projects mentioned was the National Artificial Intelligence Index (NAII), which brings together government priorities and supports the development of sustainable AI solutions. The Kingdom has also moved to strengthen its international ties, partnering with organizations such as the United Nations, UNESCO, and the IInternational Telecommunication Union.
He also noted the launch of the Riyadh Charter on AI for the Islamic World, signed by 53 countries, which sets guidelines for the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence.
The forum, held over two days in cooperation with the Arab League and hosted by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, brought together regional leaders to discuss the future of AI across the Arab world.
