The reason is very simple. The liked algorith puts you in anxiety. As you put a post, picture or a video, you are constantly looking out for likes and when the people you are expecting a reaction from do not engage with your post, it causes stress.

The survey was done with San Francisco State students, Peper and Harvey found that students who used their phones the most, reported higher levels of loneliness, isolation, depression, and anxiety

According to the researches, the loneliness is a result of the lack of face to face or in person interaction where body language is not expressed. The research also revealed that the same students indulged in multi-tasking therefore not giving their body and mind enough rest. the lack of focus results in anxiety and restlessness.

It is also revealed that blue light smartphones emit can interfere with your normal sleep patterns. The good thing is no researcher has yet established a clear/firm link between cellphones and cancer.
