Hardware maker Plaud has unveiled its latest AI notetaker, the Plaud NotePin S, along with a desktop app for digital meetings. The announcement comes ahead of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
What’s New With the NotePin S
Plaud first launched its pin-styled notetaker in 2024, which received positive reviews from tech journalists. The new NotePin S adds a physical button that lets you start and stop recordings.
During recording, you can tap the button to highlight key moments, similar to the functionality on the Plaud Note Pro.
The $179 device comes with multiple accessories: a clip, a lanyard, a magnetic pin, and a wristband. This allows you to wear or carry the pin however you like.
Plaud is also adding Apple Find My support, so you can locate the device easily if it’s misplaced.

Key Specifications
The NotePin S retains core specs from the previous generation:
-
64 GB onboard storage
-
20 hours of continuous battery life
-
Two MEMS microphones capture clear audio up to 9.8 feet
Users also get 300 minutes of transcription per month for free.
Compared to the Note Pro, the NotePin S has a shorter recording range and slightly lower battery life, but it is smaller and more portable. The company says the device is ideal for people constantly on the go.
Plaud’s Growth and Strategy
This is Plaud’s fourth device, and the company has sold over 1.5 million units to date.
Plaud’s early focus was on in-person meetings. Now, the company is expanding to digital meetings with a new desktop client. The app competes with meeting notetakers like Granola, Fathom, and Fireflies.
Desktop App Features
The desktop app can detect active meetings and prompt you to capture a transcript.
On Mac, it records system audio from the meeting. AI then structures the audio into clear, organized notes.
Plaud is also bringing multimodal inputs to the desktop app. Users can add images and typed notes alongside audio transcription—a feature introduced in last year’s app update.
