Perplexity Launches AI Tool to Create Dashboards and Spreadsheets Instantly

Perplexity, the AI search engine competing with Google, has introduced a new tool called Perplexity Labs. It’s available to users who subscribe to the $20-per-month Pro plan.

Labs lets users create things like reports, spreadsheets, dashboards, and even simple web apps. The tool is now live on the web, iOS, and Android, and it will soon come to Mac and Windows apps.

In a blog post, the company said:

“Perplexity Labs can help with a wide range of work and personal projects. It spends more time — about 10 minutes or more — and uses extra tools to get tasks done. These tools include file creation, data handling, and mini-app building.”

Labs was released on the same day Manus, another AI company, launched a tool for making slide decks. Perplexity’s move is part of its effort to go beyond just AI search.

The company is also working on a web browser called Comet and recently bought Read.vc, a professional social network.

Perplexity Labs can research topics, analyze data, generate charts and images, and even write code. It’s designed to create full project files using tools like web search, code execution, and visualizations.

Once the files are made — whether charts, images, or code —they’re saved in a dedicated tab for users to view or download.
Perplexity states that this helps users create more comprehensive and useful outputs for their work.

Of course, AI isn’t perfect. Therefore, results may not always be entirely accurate. But the potential is big.

Perplexity has also been adding more features for businesses. Last year, it launched an enterprise plan with tools like user access control and internal knowledge search.

These upgrades may be tied to investor pressure. Perplexity is reportedly in talks to raise to $1 billion, with a valuation of $18 billion.
