Pakistan is bringing big changes to how passports are made. The government has started using AI-powered machines that can print 300 passports in one hour. This was shared by Mustafa Jamal Kazi, Director General of Passports.
Fast-Working Machines Are Now Active
Six of these smart machines were bought in March 2025. They are now fully connected with NADRA’s database, which helps check people’s information instantly. This means people won’t have to wait as long to get their passports. Kazi said.
“These machines will save time and improve the service,”
He called it a big step forward in modernizing the passport system.
Mother’s Name Will Now Appear on Passports
Another important change is the inclusion of the mother’s name on the passport. This brings Pakistan in line with global standards. It will also help with better identity verification, especially for children and women.
This change is helpful for single mothers, orphans, and legal guardians. It makes the documents more inclusive and accurate.

Action Against Illegal Activities Abroad
In other news, the government has started taking strict action against Pakistanis who were deported from foreign countries for illegal acts. These include public begging and illicit travel.
Now, the government is canceling their passports and filing criminal cases against them. These steps were taken after complaints from Middle Eastern countries, where such issues have become common.
Why These Steps Are Important
These new actions will help protect Pakistan’s image abroad. They will stop people from misusing passports and make sure services are used properly.
It will also help Pakistan when dealing with other countries, especially in trying to get visa-free travel options for its citizens.
