San Francisco & Santa Clara—September 22, 2025
OpenAI and NVIDIA have entered a landmark strategic partnership to create the world’s largest AI datacenter infrastructure. This initiative will deliver at least 10 gigawatts of compute power, powered by NVIDIA systems and millions of GPUs, to fuel OpenAI’s next generation of models on the path toward superintelligence.
$100 Billion Investment in AI Compute
To support the rollout, NVIDIA will invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI. The investment will be staged progressively as each gigawatt of AI compute capacity is deployed.
The first 1 gigawatt of NVIDIA systems is expected to go live in the second half of 2026, running on NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform.

A Decade of Collaboration
NVIDIA and OpenAI have worked together for more than 10 years. From the first DGX supercomputer to the global success of ChatGPT, the two companies have continually pushed the boundaries of AI.
Jensen Huang, NVIDIA founder and CEO, said:
“This partnership represents the next leap forward—deploying 10 gigawatts to power the next era of intelligence.”
Sam Altman, OpenAI co-founder and CEO, emphasized:
“Everything starts with compute. Computing will be the foundation of the future economy. Together with NVIDIA, we’ll create breakthroughs and deliver them at scale.”
Greg Brockman, OpenAI co-founder and president, added:
“We’re excited to deploy 10 gigawatts of compute with NVIDIA to push back the frontier of intelligence and bring these benefits to everyone.”
Preferred Compute and Networking Partner
As part of the deal, OpenAI has selected NVIDIA as its preferred compute and networking partner. The companies will co-optimize their hardware and software roadmaps, ensuring seamless integration of OpenAI’s models with NVIDIA’s advanced infrastructure.
This collaboration will be critical for training and deploying large-scale AI systems, including next-gen foundation models, multimodal AI, and potential AGI systems.
Global AI Ecosystem Expansion
The OpenAI–NVIDIA partnership will build on existing collaborations with major technology players, including Microsoft, Oracle, SoftBank, and Stargate partners. Together, they are working to create the world’s most advanced AI infrastructure, capable of powering enterprise adoption, developer innovation, and global consumer use.
OpenAI has already grown to over 700 million weekly active users. Enterprises, small businesses, and developers worldwide are rapidly integrating its tools. The NVIDIA partnership ensures that OpenAI will have the compute scale to support this explosive growth.
