JEDDAH: A symposium was held today at the headquarters of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah. It was organized with the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sports.
The theme was “Empowering Youth in OIC Member States through Video Games and Social Media: Opportunities and Challenges.” Experts, officials, and youth voices joined the discussion.
Speakers talked about how gaming and social media are changing the lives of young people. Some stressed the good side learning, creativity, career chances. Others warned about problems such as too much screen use, safety risks, and false information spreading online.

There were also examples shared from OIC countries. In some places, young people are already turning these platforms into tools for skills, jobs, and community building.
One idea stood out: these platforms are not just time wasters. If used right, they can prepare a generation that is skilled, responsible, and ready to lead.
