Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) recently held the 8th edition of UX Pakistan 2025. It is the country’s biggest and longest-running design conference. The event brought together designers, technologists, educators, and thought leaders from Pakistan and abroad.
The theme this year was “Design for Social Impact.” The two-day event showed how design can help solve big problems. It focused on using design to improve education, public health, climate change, and fair urban growth.
Speakers at the conference challenged old ideas of design. They called for using design in smarter ways to help people. In Pakistan, design is no longer just about how things look. It now includes planning systems, thinking strategically, and focusing on fairness.

UX Pakistan started as a student-led idea at LUMS. Today, it is a major national platform. This year’s event included keynote talks, panels, and the launch of a new initiative called Design for Pakistan.
Design for Pakistan wants to turn ideas into action. It will help update school programs, launch design fellowships, and build partnerships between schools, government, and businesses. It will also help the government improve services by using empathy and real-world knowledge.
The event showed how design can support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It can create smart, local solutions that are easy to grow and use.
As Pakistan faces many challenges, UX Pakistan 2025 reminded us of the power of design. It called for a design culture that is based on local needs and real impact.
The message from LUMS is clear: Pakistan doesn’t need to copy global trends. It needs to lead its own way. And the time to start is now.
