Here is why WhatsApp is all set to get tough competition from Facebook Messenger

Facebook bought WhatsApp couple of years ago for $19 billion. Today WhatsApp has over 1bn daily uses and growing. It is used as one stop messaging app for communication, sharing messages, documents and making video calls. Facebook announced its new 4K photo sharing as well as peer-to-peer money transfers few hours ago.

High resolution photo sharing has always been users demand on any messaging app and Facebook seem to have strike at the right time by announcing high resolution 4K photo sharing feature in messenger. This would let users get a richer and sharper experience when viewing the images in high quality.

We heard that people want to send and receive high resolution photos in Messenger — and considering people send more than 17 billion photos through Messenger every month — we’re making your conversations richer, sharper, and better than ever.

We know that every message matters to you, no matter how or what you’re sharing. We appreciate that you continue to use Messenger to connect with the people you care about most. Sean Kelly & Hagen Green, Product Managers – Messenger.

Important thing to factor in with this new messaging sharing feature is; photos can be sent as quickly as before despite of high resolution.

Alongside sending high resolution images, Facebook has also announced it is launching a new payment service in the UK that would allow users to send and receive money via the Messenger.

Facebook is certainly taking the Messenger to the next level. It is interesting to know that both messaging apps are owned by Facebook.
