Google Rolls Out Its Cost-Effective AI Plus Plan to the U.S. and Other Markets

Google announced on Tuesday that its more affordable AI Plus plan is now available in all markets where its AI services are offered, including the U.S., priced at $7.99 per month.

The expansion brings the lower-cost plan to 35 new countries and territories, following earlier launches that began in Indonesia last September.

What the AI Plus Plan Offers

Subscribers to Google AI Plus gain access to a variety of AI tools, including

  • Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro via the Gemini app

  • Flow’s AI filmmaking tools

  • Research and writing support through NotebookLM

  • 200 GB of storage

  • The ability to share benefits with up to five family members

Existing Google One Premium 2TB subscribers will automatically receive all Google AI Plus plan benefits over the coming days.

Target Audience and Pricing

Initially aimed at emerging markets, the AI Plus plan serves as an affordable step beyond free access to Google’s AI tools for users who don’t need or can’t afford the $20 per month Google AI Pro plan.

Pricing varies by region:

  • U.S.: $8 per month

  • India: ₹399 ($4.44 USD) per month

  • Other regions often see prices under $5 per month

The plan is designed to attract more casual AI users, expanding Google’s reach in both emerging markets and developed countries.

Competing in the AI Market

Google designed the AI Plus plan to provide access to Gemini, Veo, and other creative AI tools at a lower price point. It also positions Google to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go plan, which is $8 per month in the U.S. or less in some emerging markets.

These plans aim to bring in large numbers of new AI users, potentially converting them into regular subscribers over time and boosting overall AI adoption.

Promotional Offer

To encourage adoption, Google is offering 50% off the first two months of subscription for new AI Plus users.
