Fitbit AI Health Coach Officially Rolls Out on Android
Google has officially launched Fitbit new AI-powered health coach, built on its Gemini technology, for Premium subscribers in the U.S. using Android devices. The feature simply called “Coach” aims to redefine personal fitness by serving as an intelligent workout trainer, sleep advisor, and overall health guide. iPhone users are expected to get access later this year.
The launch follows Google’s growing focus on integrating artificial intelligence into everyday wellness. According to industry reports, the global fitness technology market is projected to reach $180 billion by 2028, and AI-based fitness solutions are quickly becoming the most in-demand tools for users seeking personalized health insights.
A Smarter Way to Stay Fit
At its core, Coach is designed to learn from you. If you’ve ever struggled to follow a workout plan, this tool might be what you’ve been waiting for. Let’s say you’re training for a 10K run the AI can build a plan around your schedule, gradually increasing your stamina without overexerting you. And if you get injured or skip a few sessions, Coach automatically adjusts the plan so you don’t fall off track.
Google showed off these capabilities at the recent Made by Google event, where the AI demonstrated how it can react in real time during workouts. Beyond fitness, it’s also built to monitor sleep quality, analyze your rest cycles, and suggest ways to feel more energized the next day.
Fitbit App Gets a New Look
Along with the new AI rollout, Google has given the Fitbit app a major redesign. The updated version is cleaner, easier to navigate, and focused around four main tabs Today, Fitness, Sleep, and Health. Each tab shows personalized stats, like your heart rate, oxygen levels, step count, and cardio load.
You can even customize what appears on your dashboard, so the app feels more personal to how you use it. Some features like nutrition tracking are still missing, but more updates are on the way.
AI and the Future of Wellness
Google’s push to bring AI into fitness isn’t surprising the global health tech market is expected to cross $180 billion by 2028, with AI playing a massive role in that growth. The company says it wants to make health data “meaningful and actionable,” helping people stay fit with less guesswork.
Right now, Fitbit’s AI Coach is available to Premium users on Android, but a wider rollout is expected later this year. If this preview goes well, it might just redefine how people approach personal wellness replacing gym checklists with smarter, data-driven coaching right on your wrist.
