FBR has launched Pakistan’s first AI-powered Customs Clearance and Risk Management System. This new system aims to speed up trade and reduce human involvement. It’s designed to make the process more transparent and efficient.
The project was launched under the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. It uses artificial intelligence and bots to check the type and value of imported goods. This helps clear goods faster and reduces delays at ports.
Early results have been impressive. The system improved performance by 92%. It also cleared 2.5 times more goods declarations through the green channel. This channel is for low-risk shipments, so fewer checks are needed. That means quicker clearance for trusted traders.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the new system. He said it was a big step in modernizing FBR. According to him, it will make business easier in Pakistan. It will also support honest taxpayers and reduce corruption.
He added that the system should be made fully integrated and long-lasting. This way, it can keep helping traders and support the economy over time.
This AI-based system is expected to make customs work faster and fairer. It will help goods move quickly and cut down costs for businesses.
