The Benazir Hunarmand Programme was officially launched by President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday, with the goal of delivering advanced vocational training to the youth of Pakistan. Special emphasis has been placed on technology and foreign language skills to strengthen the country’s presence in global job markets.
At a ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Zardari stated that the progress made under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) had been built upon through this new initiative, which had already assisted millions of low-income families. Under the programme, employable skills are to be provided to young individuals so that economic independence can be pursued.

Training will be provided in areas such as nursing, computer technology, and languages including German and Chinese. The global demand for nursing was highlighted, and greater attention toward this field was encouraged by the President.
The programme was described as a continuation of the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, whose birthday coincided with the event. A renewed pledge was made by President Zardari to make sure that Pakistan’s younger generation is given the means to shape a stronger future.
According to Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of BISP, the existing BISP database will be used to identify eligible candidates and extend the benefits to those most in need. For the upcoming fiscal year, Rs. 716 billion has been set aside for BISP.
