An Idle Mind Is Devil’s Workshop.

We are told so many frightful stories of the Devil that they are enough to fright the Devil himself. We are so much afraid from its horrible and monstrous shape that our imagination despises anything related to the Devil. But what we do not realize is that the same devil exists in our mind when we stay idle.

Devil is powerless until we allow him to distract us from our work and we do that by spending hours surfing the internet, wasting time in gossips, and day-dreaming etc. An idle person’s mind is more attracted to thinking up things that a busy person has no time to dwell on except his work.

An idle mind makes a person lazy and he thinks of making a living through easy ways. He does not make use of any of his abilities that he is blessed with. A man can achieve marvels if he properly makes use of his abilities. There are enough hours in a day but idle minds never seem to accomplish anything. If we manage our time properly, we can utilize our abilities more productively.

There is no entire industry to help people make them realize about their abilities, we have to do this all on our own.

Following are some of the ways that can help to keep our minds busy and productive.

Always stay busy:

“Your work is to discover your world and then with all your heart give yourself to it” Buddha

Getting comfortable with your work makes you stop progressing in your life. The comfort zone holds you back from succeeding. The need is to create success goals beyond the financial game and learning something new along with continuing with your job. Technological development has made it so much easier for people to learn anything they want from home. You can do so many things such as learning communication skills, different languages, art, and design etc.

Learn from bad experiences:

“Nature knows no pause and attaches a curse upon inaction” Goethe.

It’s scary to fail; we equip ourselves with all the possible tools and guidelines not to make a mistake. But sometimes despite our efforts, all our planning falls flat on our faces. It is the time when we must realize that we are capable enough to get back up. If we learn how to weave the gap in the net that made us fall, we can truly take a leap that dictates our success. So always learn from experiences no matter if they are not favored on your side.

Stay happy even in your miserable hours:

Every day may not be good, but there’s something good in every day.

Our brains are set up in a way that we cannot bypass responding to life emotions. But it does not mean that we allow negative feelings to take over our state of mind when we face troubles and hardships. There is no point of crying and screaming and bringing other people down as well with our negativity. Everyone in life is blessed with something that’s guaranteed to put a smile on one’s face. Always look at troubles as learning experiences, discover ways how to come up with solutions that could have avoided bad situations. Keep your thinking positive no matter what happens. You will grow with every phase in your life and you mind will be a place full of productive ideas.

Be Contented with what you have:

The state of the mind when we stop craving for more and get satisfied with whatever we have leads to an absolute happiness.

When we make good use of the available means and resources, though they might be insignificant, we benefit from the ease of contentment in our life. We free ourselves from unhappiness, restlessness, greediness, and dissatisfaction. Contentment makes a person less dependent on others and learns to tolerate the shortages. The state of contentment increases his personal knowledge, self-conscious, and awareness.

Learn to Forgive even if it feels impossible:

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one getting burned”. Buddha

When your mind is filled with retribution thoughts, you become anxious, depressed, and neurotic. You must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. Forgiveness is something you do for yourself. The experience of forgiving others will make you learn about yourself, your needs, and how to strengthen your boundaries. Forgiveness will not only make you survive the incident but you will grow from it.

A person’s thoughts and behavioral patterns differentiate him/her from other people. A positive work attitude increases your own happiness. If you want to fit best in the society than you will have to adopt the above given personality traits. Life is not about all great things, it is about struggles all along the way so learn with every single phase and do not let the growth of your mind come to a halt.

“Life is inherently risky. There is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that is the risk of doing nothing”. Denis Waitley
