According to reports, WhatsApp is working on a new feature for its iOS app that will increase conversation privacy by including an additional layer of protection. According to a feature tracker, the new feature, called Advanced Chat Privacy, makes a number of adjustments that limit the receiving device’s ability to automatically save material that the user shares. It also allegedly stops them from exporting whole chat histories that include exchanges with a user who has selected the Advanced Chat Privacy option.
iOS Advanced Chat Privacy Feature
The Advanced Chat Privacy feature for iOS is being developed by Meta Platforms’ instant message client and will be available in a future version of the app, as reported by WhatsApp feature monitor WABetaInfo. It was observed in the iOS WhatsApp Beta app, which is 25.10.10.70. The recipient of media files in a chat won’t be able to save them to their phone’s gallery after the sender enabled it.
However, Advanced Conversation Privacy is optional and may be enabled by going to the app’s settings.
According to screenshots that the function researcher supplied, a pop-up that reads, “Can’t auto-save media,” would show up if the receiver attempts to save the material.

“You have activated enhanced chat privacy, which stops media from being saved automatically to your device’s gallery.”
The feature tracker indicates that limitations on conversation exports may be one of its additional features. Exporting chat histories that include conversations with users who have Enhanced Chat Privacy activated on their device will be prohibited. Additionally, it is alleged to prevent users from communicating with WhatsApp’s AI chatbot, Meta AI.
Notably, it was recently revealed that WhatsApp’s Android counterpart was also working on a similar functionality. Nevertheless, According to WA Beta Info, Advanced Chat Privacy is still under development and isn’t accessible to beta testers who have signed up through Apple’s TestFlight program. Over the next few weeks, it is anticipated to be made available to WhatsApp beta users.
