The Government of Pakistan is planning to upgrade the National Job Portal (NJP) with artificial intelligence (AI) to modernize recruitment and improve employment services nationwide.
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has instructed the National Information Technology Board (NITB) to introduce AI into the portal. NITB has already started working on the proposed changes.
AI-Powered Recruitment Features
The AI-enabled portal will help match job seekers with suitable opportunities based on their skills, qualifications, and experience. Public sector organizations will also benefit from a streamlined shortlisting process, saving time and effort.
Additionally, the portal will generate labor market intelligence, allowing authorities to identify sector-wise demand, workforce gaps, and emerging employment trends. Officials emphasize that data protection, transparency, and human oversight will be maintained to prevent algorithmic bias and ensure fair recruitment.
NJP Overview and Statistics
The National Job Portal, launched in September 2020 under the federal government’s “Digital Transformation of Pakistan” initiative, serves as a centralized platform for public sector recruitment.

Around 33,800 job advertisements and recruitment events have been published so far.
The portal ensures merit-based recruitment by requiring federal ministries and departments to advertise vacancies through a secure and automated system.
