Pakistan’s IT Exports Cross $350M in July, Setting New Record

Pakistan’s IT Exports

Pakistan’s information and communication technology (ICT) exports reached a new record in July 2025. The figure climbed to $354 million. That’s a 23.8% jump from $286 million in July 2024. It’s also a 4.4% increase from June 2025, when exports were $338 million.

This strong growth lifted the ICT trade surplus to $317 million. It was the highest among all service categories. The surplus also showed a 25.8% rise compared to last year. The numbers prove Pakistan’s growing strength in the digital economy. Other service industries, however, struggled to hold momentum.

ICT has now become the biggest contributor to Pakistan’s services exports. It makes up 47.5% of the total share. The next category, “Other Business Services,” earned only $151 million. This gap shows how dominant the tech industry is in exports.

In contrast, the overall services sector posted a deficit of $126 million in July 2025. The result highlights the dependence on ICT to balance external trade. Digital exports are now helping offset weaknesses in tourism, transport, and finance.

The upward trend began earlier in June 2025, when ICT exports touched $338 million. That was a 13.8% year-on-year growth. The strong base in June paved the way for July’s record numbers.

With rising global demand for IT outsourcing, software development, call centers, and freelancing, experts see more growth ahead. Under Vision 2025 and the government’s digital push, Pakistan’s ICT sector is set to play an even bigger role in the economy.
