WhatsApp has released a new update for Android. It is available through the Google Play Beta Program. The version is now 2.25.22.5.
This update adds a useful feature. Users can now set notification reminders for missed calls. The feature is available to some beta testers only. It will roll out to more people in the coming weeks.
What’s New in This Update?
In an earlier update (version 2.23.21.14), WhatsApp added reminders for chat messages. This allowed users to set alerts for important messages in a conversation. It was perfect for revisiting key content later.
The feature supported preset intervals and custom scheduling. All reminders were private and processed on the device. Now, WhatsApp has extended the feature to missed calls. This creates a more complete and seamless reminder experience.
Setting Reminders for Missed Calls
With the WhatsApp beta 2.25.22.5 update, some testers can now set reminders for missed calls. The option appears directly in the chat where the call happened. Just like text or media messages, a missed call entry now has a reminder button. This makes it easier to follow up on calls you couldn’t answer at the time.
It ensures you remember to call back later when it’s convenient. WhatsApp also added this option in the Calls tab. By selecting a missed call there, users can quickly set a reminder without opening the chat.
How the Reminder Feature Works
When creating a reminder for a missed call, WhatsApp offers several preset time intervals, such as:
-
2 hours later
-
8 hours later
-
The next day

For those who need more flexibility, there’s also an option to choose a custom date and time, making it easy to align reminders with personal schedules, work meetings, or other commitments.
At the chosen time, WhatsApp will display a dedicated notification that reminds the user about the missed call. The notification includes:
-
The caller’s name
-
The profile picture
-
A direct link to the chat where the reminder was set
Why This Feature Matters
This new functionality is especially useful in everyday scenarios where you might miss a call but still want to ensure you reconnect later.
For example:
- Say you’re in a meeting and miss a client’s call. You can set a reminder to call them back once you’re free.
- Or maybe you’re a student in class. You miss a call from a friend or family member. Just set a reminder for later in the day.
- Even if you’re commuting, it works the same way. You can schedule a reminder to return the call once you get home.
The best part?
All reminders stay on your device. They’re private, and only you can see them.
Availability
The feature for missed call reminders is live for some beta testers. It is available in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android on the Google Play Store. WhatsApp has confirmed that the rollout will expand in the coming weeks. This means more users will soon get access to this helpful productivity tool.
