3 Steps that can make an impact on your life

Years ago there was an old man who used to go to the ocean before starting his writing every day. He habitually walked on the beach every day before beginning on his writing. One day after a big storm had passed; he was walking along the shore and saw that the beach was littered with starfish. Little steps away, he saw a young boy approaching. He was picking up something from the beach and throwing it back into the sea. When the boy reached closer to him, he called out and said, “Good Morning! May I ask what you are doing?” The boy replied that the tides of the last night’s storm have washed all the starfish on the beach and they cannot return on their own. I am throwing them back to the sea so that they don’t die when the sun comes up.

The old man said that there must be millions of starfish lying on the beach and it won’t be possible to throw back all of them so you won’t be able to make a difference. The boy bent down to pick up another starfish, held it into his hands, and threw it back into the ocean. He then turned towards the old man, smiled and replied, “It made a difference to that one”.

Sometimes you feel overwhelmed when you think about your problems but that doesn’t mean that you can’t make a difference. You may think that the steps you take are quite small but yet they can have a profound impact in your life. Following are the small steps you need to take in order to make a difference:

  • Spend time with yourself:

In order to truly take steps towards your successful life, you need to spend some time with yourself. You need to be completely honest with yourself, your thoughts, and your intentions. It will help you to get more clarity and vision about your future prospects and will make you more confident with your plans.

  • Make progress on daily basis:

When you have goals, you think that accomplishing them would require you to take bigger steps. But that is not true; you can make small steps on daily basis in order to move in the right direction. You need to take consistent and focused action on daily basis in order to move closer towards your ultimate goals.

  • Stop comparing:

Even before starting your journey towards your goals, you need to define what success actually mean to you. For everyone success has a different meaning. You must not compare your life with what media has portrayed as successful, you should understand that it will distract you from your own purpose. Determine your accomplishment and true success yourself and design your life according to it.

As a human being, you have the ability to step into your full power and use your unique gifts to bring a difference to your life. Contribute positive and kind gestures to the world and take steps no matter you think are small.
