Steve Jobs Seven Rules of Success

Technology, Apple in particular will always be remembered because of Steve Jobs. His impact on our daily life can not be under mined. I have always been a big fan of Jobs, his resilience to make an impact in the world of computers, technology will be written in golden words in the history books.

Carmine Gallo, a writer at Entrepreneur talks about Steve Jobs and his seven rules of success.

Rule # 1 – Always do what you love

People with passion can change the world for the better.

Jobs puts a lot of emphasis on Passion, he says, passion is everything. I’d get a job as a busboy or something until I figured out what I was really passionate about. If you love the work and are passionate about it, you will succeed.

Rule # 2 – Put a dent in the universe

Jobs always emphasized on Visionary power, an eye into the future. He once asked an ex Pepsi President, John Sculley, “Do you want to spend your life selling sugar water or do you want to change the world?”. He was a man with big vision.

Rule # 3 – Connect ideas

People with broad life experience see things differently. Jobs took calligraphy classes which was not his field but put that learning to use when he built the Macintosh and its fonts. He also studied design and hospitality, traveled the world. He connected ideas from different fields. Learning has no boundaries and age.

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”

Rule # 4 – Say No

After coming back to Apple in 1997, he took a company with 350 products and reduced them to 10 products within couple of  years. The reason is he wanted to put a “A” team to each product and make it successful. He did it in a style.

Rule # 5 – Create a unique experience

Apple stores have something unique about them, They make a close connect with their customers and therefore resulting in a brand loyalty. Creating a unique experience is very important. Jobs also brought an innovation in the customer services field, making it a great experience for the Apple customers.

Rule # 6 – Communicate your idea

You can have the greatest idea in the world but if you can not communicate the message across, the idea is good for nothing and will only remain an idea. Communication is key to success. Learn how to send the message clearly. Jobs was the world’s greatest corporate storyteller

Rule # 7 – Sell dreams, not products

Dream big, simplicity is the key. Jobs always created products with customers in mind. He invented iPhone and iPad with one simple round button at the bottom and the rest was history. Apple phones and ipad were soon to capture a big share of market because of this innovation. Jobs always emphasized on keeping customers first, your idea should have a selling point, something customers dream about and your products will sell like crazy.
